Game Safety

  • not locking people in rooms (code requirement, but enforcement varies by jurisdiction)
  • no exposed wires (see low voltage note above)
  • no sharp corners (not a code requirement)
  • no dangerous objects without protections in place (e.g. large objects that move or could fall, Van De Graff generators and the like)
  • laser and blacklight guidelines (measures to avoid direct eye exposure, measures for safety with small children)
  • Strobe lighting – the flash rate must be kept at or below 4 flashes per second
  • no game elements that encourage unsafe actions (e.g. electrical socket safe, fork in the electrical socket)
  • no accessible electrical sockets (not a normal code requirement, may be burdensome for unrenovated game-spaces)
  • active monitoring of games (may be too prescriptive)
